Who’s Ready for PE Class?

Purpose of Activity:

To encourage students to start the class off quiet and attentive. This sets the tone for the rest of the class.

Prerequisites:

Students should have a clear understanding of what “ready” means in a physical education class. A ready situation might include sitting in a good listening posture, eyes on the teacher, not touching other students and being quiet and attentive.

Suggested Grade Level:

K-2

Description of Idea

As the class comes in and sits down for the instant activity or set induction pick a student that you feel exemplifies “ready“.  This student then gets to pick another student that they feel is ready, and so on and so forth. We usually let 6 or 7 students get picked as ready, depending on the mood of the class.
